You know what is fun (and profitable)?
Disney movies!
You know what is not?
The economy.
You know what is interesting?
The Great Depression went from 1929 until 1939. Walt Disney Productions was incorporated in 1929 and released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937: it became the highest grossing movie of its time and brought endless joy to families during the hardship.
People are now comparing the coronavirus crisis to the Great Depression. Even Disneyland, the Happiest Place on Earth, is closed! Many of us are stuck at home, in some form of self-quarantine, shelter-in-place, or just being cautious -- and will likely continue to be for the coming weeks or months.
Hopefully, you’re healthy at home and taking good care of yourself and your family. You might be wondering how the economic times will affect your business. You could be witnessing your industry on shaky ground and wondering what the future will bring. The time away may be making you realize that you are unhappy or unfulfilled in your job and looking to make a change.
These are scary times, but I want to tell you something super important:
You can be like Walt Disney!
Successful.
Bringing happiness to others.
You know what else? Disney is not alone in being a trailblazer during economic hardship. If you look back through history, many of the biggest companies around today all started during difficult times. To name a few, massive companies like Apple, IBM, Microsoft, and even Burger King all started during a recession.
So did Credit Repair Cloud. I also started my business during a rough period: the economic meltdown in 2008. Some thought I was a crazy person for building it right when the crisis started.
Even though I was completely broke — even amidst harassing calls from collectors and being on the verge of losing everything — I kept at it and bootstrapped my business from nothing.
I kept at it because I knew the hard times would eventually pass, and I would finally be at the right place at the right time to make a difference.
And I was right!
So I’m telling you from experience — now is the time for opportunity. This is the time when fortunes will be made, if you seize the opportunity.
Here is a quick list of actions you can take NOW, during your downtime, to make a significant change in your life (and in your community):
Research New Industries
It’s true that the coronavirus is creating all kinds of problems, but it’s also creating a lot of incredible opportunities. Some businesses are thriving right now, and history shows that innovation increases dramatically during times of crisis. You have to adapt to the times … and the current times have a crystal clear message for you: work from home!
In fact, there has never been a better time in history to have a home-based business. If you’re in an industry that’s been negatively affected by the coronavirus outbreak, or you’ve already lost your job — don’t give up!
Instead, use this time to research opportunities in industries that can not only survive -- but, thrive -- in the rough times ahead. By researching new business models that can be done from home, you’re setting yourself up for a wildly profitable and bullet-proof business.
One example is a home-based credit repair business, which will likely be in even higher demand as people work to recover from these economic hard times.
Get Training to Expand Your Skill Set
If you’re sitting at home now and you suddenly have some extra time on your hands, now is the perfect time to get some training and learn new skills that could literally change your life.
There are many businesses out there that you can start without a lot of money, but it does pay off to have some training... When you enroll in training, you expand your skill set and connect with like-minded people, which increases your chances of success exponentially.
If you’re already thinking about starting a company such as a home-based credit repair business, that’s great! The credit repair industry is exciting, it’s rewarding, and the sky's the limit when it comes to how much you can make and how many people you can help.
Credit Repair Cloud provides free online training that teaches you all about our awesome credit repair software. The training teaches you how to get started with your credit repair business, how to start helping people, and make a great living doing it.
Join a New Community
Sometimes fear can make us feel powerless. But having a community around us makes us feel safe and strong. That’s why community is more important now than ever.
It’s incredibly inspiring to see how families are taking care of each other during this crisis. How neighbors are reaching out to help each other. And how entire communities are banding together to fight and contain this virus.
Well, that sense of community is just as important when you’re starting a credit repair business and it can help you further your dreams.
You can learn from others, become motivated by their business success, and you can even model your success after theirs.
I’m extremely proud of the community we’ve created around Credit Repair Cloud to help people grow their credit repair businesses and become more successful.
- We have a free Facebook group where over 8,000 credit heroes go to share, learn, and help each other overcome challenges.
- In 2021, you can take advantage of live events like our annual Credit Repair Expo, where credit repair business owners gather face-to-face to network, share wins and so much more. (Sadly, we had to cancel this year’s event because of COVID-19.)
Being safe at home may mean you are alone during this time, but it does not have to mean you are lonely. Reach out to people with similar interests, use social media to quench your thirst for community.
Start a Work-From-Home Credit Repair Business
Trust me, there has never been a better time for the credit repair industry. And that means there is no better time to start your home-based credit repair business than right now.
I’m a long-time proponent of working from home. Before we had a headquarters, I ran Credit Repair Cloud from my kitchen for many years — and guess what? My customers didn’t care that I was at home!
If you’re thinking now is a great time to start a home-based credit repair business, but you’re overwhelmed or don’t know where to start, my advice to you is: start by starting! Or, as Walt Disney said, “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”
You too can become a “bathrobe CEO” — and you don't need a background in credit repair to do it. You just need time (thanks quarantine!), passion, and the right tools.
- Our credit repair software makes running your credit repair business easier so you can help more people and quickly scale your business
- Zoom is an amazing video conferencing tool that we use for connecting with teams from the comfort of my home
- Slack is another great tool for your home-based credit repair business - we use it for private and group messaging, sending files and more.
- We use Google Drive to keep track of important documents, files, artwork, videos and more.
All of these tools make it easy to collaborate no matter where you are in the world (including your kitchen table) and they all have a free version.
I hope this post has inspired you to take action and start seizing the opportunities that are all around you. If you’re in quarantine or stuck at home generally, use this time to your advantage.
If your current business is slow or your work is suddenly interrupted or disappearing, see this extra time as a chance to change your life.
I’m telling you, if you double down now and focus on building something, you’re going to come out on top.
Still think it’s impossible to begin a profitable business that helps others during economic downturns? Take it from Mr. Disney himself, “it's kind of fun to do the impossible.”
